Q: noise when accelerating straight or right, but no noise when accelerating left.

asked by on December 25, 2017

I have an automatic Mercedes B 180 CDI (w245). When the car is accelerating (and only then) and the steering wheel is turned right, or straight, i hear a noise like spinning grinding stuff, louder than the engine. I later noticed that even the slightest turn left (even 1 degree) makes the noise stop. Also, the noise also appears when the car is being accelerated. If the car is loose, the noise disappears, no matter how hard the right turn would be. The noise doesn't grow louder if the speed is higher or if the wheel is turned more to the left. It`s like Kafka. Really! It is not always there. Just most of the time. What the hack? The transmission is CVT. The car has electric power steering (i think). The steering wheel appears to be aroung 3 degrees to the right.

My car has 100000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
