Q: No crank seems related to gears - 1995 Chrysler LHS

asked by on October 26, 2016

Car can be started with jumper wire from positive battery terminal to ignition terminal on solenoid. When car is demonstrably in Park, Park light doesn't show up on gear indicator light on dashboard, or all lights stay lit. Is there a way to adjust the dashboard lights? We have tried jacking it up, loosening shifter cable, manually pushing gear into park, putting gear shifter into park, tightening shifter cable, lower car and rocking it to make sure parking sprag is engaged, still no start. To adjust it in any other gear than park would require removing plastic housing over gear shift. Is there a better way to try to synch gear shift and gears? If it sounds like a bad neutral safety switch, exactly how do you get to it on my car? Is there anything else we should try?

My car has 210000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Car vibrating at 45 MPH
The speed you say the problem starts is just at the speed the transmission shifts into overdrive and locks up the transmission converter. The speed is also the time that most tire balance problems start to show up. Try to...

What you are describing sounds like hesitation. The most common cause of hesitation is the MAF, or Mass Air Flow sensor. This sensor is solely responsible for measuring the air going into the engine, and with the air, the computer...

My car alarm keeps setting off in the middle of the night would like to know which amp fuse can be removed

My car won't shift into 3rd, 4th, and reverse.
Hi there. The gears 3rd and 4th are both on the main shaft inside the transmission. Those gears have a synchronizer that connects the gears together. The reverse gear does not have a synchronizer to make the gear work. It...
Can a shop repair one side struts only or do they have to do both front
Technically, it is possible to have just one strut done at a time. But, I don't know of a single mechanic that would advise having one strut done. Struts are replaced in pairs (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/strut-assembly-replacement) for several reasons, the most important...
Steering wheel won't lock. Yellow steering lock warning on dash. Only comes on when removing fob.
Hi there. The issue seems to be the shifter interlock solenoid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/shifter-interlock-solenoid-replacement) may be malfunctioning causing the steering wheel lock to not release or not engage. I suggest having the computer scanned for any codes that would be stored or...
While in park my Nissan idles from 1500-2000 rapidly even after the resetting what could be the problem ?
You can attempt to drive the vehicle and see if re-learning is possibly completed. If driving the vehicle does not resolve the issue, that is the correct idle speed is not attained, check to be sure that the throttle body...
