Q: Need to find a replacement oil cooler/transmission oil cooler line or suitable substitute on 1993 chevy g20 5.0

asked by on December 27, 2017

I have a 1993 chevy g20 cargo van 5.0 305 v8. Recently replaced the cooling system and broke the lower oil cooler line to the radiator. I have tried finding the replacment line and had to return a part twice. Can this be made with the auto parts store nitrile line and if so how do I source the fitting?

My car has 184000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

New car but the transmission totally died out
I found the transmission has a recall to reprogram the control module to fix drive complaints. The recall RC-R01-15 covers reprogramming the modules that control the transmission and engine. The recall does not state your exact problem and only states...
Gears slipping.
If your automatic transmission is slipping, either the fluid is low or you have internal transmission problems (failed front pump, faulty pressure regulator, etc.). Even checking transmission fluid can be a difficult task, so this is one best left to...
Interior lights quit working
Hello. There may be a problem with the combination switch (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/combination-switch-assembly-replacement) or a headlight switch (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/headlight-switch-replacement). It is also possible that there is some damage to the wiring of the dashboard, interior lights, and fog lights. I suggest that you...
The check engine light came o and the code is P0420 and I can't figure what exactly to replace
As you probably know, the catalytic converter (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/catalytic-converter-replacement) reduces emissions by injecting oxygen into the exhaust stream, mixing oxygen with the emission gases and essentially incinerating the pollutants before they can exit the tailpipe. The converter works with two oxygen...
My Oil Pressure Light blinks when I come to a stop. What's wrong?
This is likely a sign of low oil pressure, which is usually caused by a leak or low oil levels. I would start by checking your oil to be sure the oil level is at the appropriate capacity. You should...
Acceleration problem
Hey there. This may be related to a fuel delivery issue such as a faulty mass air flow sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/mass-airflow-sensor-replacement) or throttle position sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/throttle-position-sensor-replacement). As you may know, the mass air flow sensor regulates the air intake as it...
Car shakes with air conditioning (AC) on
The air conditioning compressor adds significant load to the engine. The compressor can be considered a small engine itself. Much in the way pistons compress air and fuel to power the vehicle, the internals of the a/c compressor compress refrigerant...
Car radio will not pick up radio stations.
There are multiple issues that could cause a radio to not pick up an AM / FM signal. In most cases it's due to faulty wiring, a loose ground wire or the wiring running to and from the antenna. However,...
I have a strong burnt metal smell.
Most of the time, bad smells indicate leaks. Oil, coolant, or brake fluid can leak onto hot surfaces and cause some really potent eye burning type smells. But in your case, I'm suspicious of the brakes. If you have a...
