Q: Need a reliable, affordable, used car

asked by on October 17, 2016

I'm a senior in college and my first car just died on me. I'm going to have to take out a loan to purchase a new one so I want to be certain I'm buying something reliable. I've been doing research for awhile but it seems like every car in my budget is full of issues. What's the best, most reliable used car I can get for under $12000? Or should I invest in a new car? Thank you!

2009 Chevy Aveo engine light went on two weeks after the thermostat housing was replaced.

The code P0507 is for a problem with the idle control valve. If all other checks are good with vacuum leaks and inlet air tubes then you may need to replace the idle control valve.
My car is misfiring on several cylinders and there is coolant in my coil pack 5and 6
The presence of coolant suggests a leak and that should be resolved as a leak could be a cause of the misfiring if water creates a path to ground. If, by chance, you are referring to coolant actually in the...
2012 Chevy Cruze 1.8L car is sluggish and hesitates to accelerate code is p0016 changed both cam sensors no luck
There are two possibilities that could be causing this issue. It is possible that the timing belt was replaced incorrectly and now the timing is off therefore having the same problem as before. The other possibility is that the crankshaft...
car showing codes P0133 and P2096.
Based on those two codes, it is likely that your gas mileage has decreased somewhat even though you might not notice any operational problems. P0133 (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0133-obd-ii-trouble-code-o2-sensor-circuit-slow-response-bank-1-sensor-1-by-blake-griffin) means that the rate of response of the oxygen sensor voltage output on bank...
