Q: My engine oil keeps leaking away on coldstart

asked by on

Whenever I start my car in the morning I noticed my engine oil is leaking, it does not do it on warm starts

My car has 85348 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Since you only see the oil leaking when the engine is cold then you should check to see if the oil is coming from the oil filter or filter housing. Check the oil filter tightness first and see if it is too loose when turned by hand. If it is loose then tighten by hand and you should recheck for leaks. If still leaking the have the oil and filter changed since the filter may be defective.
