Q: Clutch pedal goes to floor

asked by on December 03, 2017

when I press down on the clutch sometimes it sticks to the floor and forces me to pretty much yank it out of whatever gear it is in. while it is stuck to the floor, it does not allow me to change gears without pressing down on the clutch again to make it not stick anymore. I've read that this could either be a slave or master cylinder issue. how much would this problem cost me?

My car has 101000 miles.

I went to start it and it turns over but just wont start
Your Jimmy most likely has a week fuel pump. A cold motor needs more fuel to run than a fully warmed motor. With this motor you can add fuel to get it started. I suggest starter fluid because it can...
Can I replace the ignition lock cylinder without removing the steering wheel?
Hi there, thanks for writing in. I'd be happy to help. Unfortunately, in order to replace the ignition lock cylinder (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-to-replace-an-ignition-lock-cylinder-by-timothy-charlet), you need to remove the steering wheel. If you do not remove it, you cannot remove the screws that...

Took my car in for a tune up and oil change. The next day the rpm's are running high, super loud, and running very hard. What can it be?
Check the throttle plate and position sensor on the engine. When the shop performed a tune-up they could have cleaned up the throttle plate and got the throttle position sensor wet. If the sensor is wet then the engine may...
Abs, brake lights are on, and the check engine light is on. Code PO500 came up. I changed our speed sensor on the back axle as well.
There could be a wiring issue with the vehicle speed sensor from the computer to the speed sensor pigtail. If the wiring is good, then the PCM may not correctly configured for the actual tire size on the vehicle. If...
I just a BMW X6 and I want to know the ideal grade of gas I use in the car

Car is not hitting on all 4 cylinders with new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotater
It sounds like you may have a problem with one or more cylinders misfiring. Engine misfires (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/engine-is-misfiring-inspection) can be caused by many different problems and are generally caused by either a spark or fuel issue or in some cases, a...
Engine stalled on my 05 ford escape at a light, and would not turn over but after 2 minutes started up like nothing happened
I think you may have a tempermental electrical connection. Maybe in the power distribution box or in the car's ignition switch. You could try looking at the battery terminals or the fuse panel for any apparent corrosion, but you might...
