Q: My car will switch in every other gear but drive

My car will not go in drive but it goes in every other gear

My car has 150 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

You may have a broken forward apply band however when that happens usually not only "D" is affected but also "3". Check for movement in "3": if you cannot move in "3" and "D", you almost surely have a broken band. If the forward apply band is broken the transmission is always re-built because the band is one of the last parts to come out of the transmission case. Once external diagnostics are complete, sometimes a piece of the band can be found in the transmission oil pan when it is removed. To obtain a conclusive diagnostic, please use YourMechanic’s shift diagnostic page to request service. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.
