Q: My car when I'm sitting at a long light, or stopped for longer than 5min, try to overheat. When I go again needle goes back normal

asked by on October 11, 2017

After my car has warmed up, when I'm sitting at a long light, or stuck in traffic. The temp gauge goes slowly into the red. As soon as I start driving again, the needle moves back to the normal operating position. The A/C will stop blowing cold until I start moving again. But only when the needle gets closer to the redline. I am thinking it is a sensor that needs replacing. The car is 12 years old and I'm the original owner. I really hope it's just a worn out part Thanks, Frank Brunette

My car has 135000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
