Q: My car stereo sometimes Doesn’t work properly

asked by on December 03, 2017

So my car stereo sometimes doesn’t work properly. I mean it will turn on, because everything works properly on the screen but no sound will come out. If I try to turn the volume up or down, it does not pop up on the screen. If it does, it just shows whatever volume number it stayed stuck on last time it worked fine. Sometimes it will turn on but the sound will turn on and off like every 3 seconds. And I don’t know if this is just always a coincidence, but whenever it’s really cold outside, and I turn it on for example in the early morning it will work just fine. But once I turn the truck off and on again it doesn’t work anymore. Because for the past months it wasn’t working at all, and I even thought about replacing the stereo. But ever since the cold weather started I noticed it turns on more, sometimes working completely fine and sometimes turning on and off. It’s just always been the audio though, the screen always turns on and everything seems like it works, but just has no audio.

My car has 160000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
