Q: My car ran out of oil and i added to much

asked by on December 10, 2017

I was driving to work and right when I got there my oil light turned on and my car started making a grinding noise. I checked the oil and there was none in the engine. I added 5 quarts and it was too much and I started the car and there is smoke coming from the exhaust and its not making the grinding noise anymore. I have not driven the car since. I am not sure if the damage has been done or if I can drain the 2 quarts to much that I put in.

My car has 200000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.
