Q: Battery and brake lights on

asked by on August 05, 2017

my car cranks but will not start, no recent starting problems since CMP sensors replaced, tune up and induction system service performed roughly 4 months ago, cmp sensors (bank 1 & 2) replaced just over a year ago, Battery replaced about 4 months ago. "Battery" and "Brake" lights are frequently on on the dash simultaneously and the car has been running a little rougher than is usual the past few days, I am not running the a/c as the car has shown that after a few miles it will not accelerate properly when multiple accessories are running, as in it will suddenly not make it above 15 mph, I am wondering what the issue(s) could possibly be? What do I need to do to resolve and what sort of cost will be involved? Thanks for your time!

My car has 215000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Timing chain problem?
It could very well be a timing chain problem (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/timing-chain-replacement). How do I know if it's my blower motor resistor or the resistor switch that's not working?
The referenced parts are tested with an ohmmeter. The resistor block (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/heater-blower-motor-resistor-replacement) must have a specified resistance across each element on the block. However, if any resistors are open (infinite resistance), the block is just condemned and replaced automatically. Occasionally,...
