Q: My car (‘15 Toyota RAV4) is making a very loud “tractor train” noise while being driven (or in motion).

asked by on December 16, 2017

My car is making an odd “tractor train” sound whenever it’s being driven, or in motion. It’s a very loud “tractor train” sound and it gets even louder when speeding up. At first, I thought that it maybe had something to do with the brakes/ rotors needing changing. The new brakes/ rotors have been successfully installed but still that very loud tractor train sound (??). My tires are just fine, as well, for now. But I think I’ve also heard a ticking sound coming from down below, the tires. Sometimes the steering wheel feels like it’s vibrating. I’m not very sure what this sound is but it’s kinda worrying me esp b/c it’s our only car and we have small children. Can someone please tell me what they think is the matter? I appreciate it very much. Thank you.

My car has 86678 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
