My 2008 E350 with AMG sports package and 80.000 miles indicates that the brake pads are near their end... do I have to change the rotors which appear to be in tolerance and what brand of pads are preferred for that car as everyone claims theirs are the best..the car is used for normal city and some highway driving and I do less than 5000 a year? I have the drilled rotors so if i need to change them at some time (or now) should I go to drilled and slotted version or is that overkill. Can I skim the rotors or even use a 600 or so grit to take off any brake pad residue. Finally, what should my local European car specialist charge me for this job..Thanks...Nick.

My car has 80000 miles.

Brake pedal goes 3/4 way to floor
Hello there. This is a more unusual problem, especially given the amount of parts you have replaced. In most cases, the pedal travel is due to either the master cylinder or the brake booster, sometimes both. Given that these have...
F20B engine felt and sounded like it scraped against something while driving. Now the car cranks but won't start.
The scraping noise was the timing belt rubbing on the timing cover. The issue could be the timing belt may have jumped a tooth. This will cause the engine to have a no start condition. Check the timing on the...
Does my transmission fluid need to be changed?
The color of used transmission fluid is not particularly relevant in judging the remaining life of the fluid. If the fluid is visibly contaminated with particulate matter and/or the fluid has a burnt odor, as a consequence of overheating, those...
would fuel system cleaning gas fuel injection cause service engine soon light to come on?
Hi there. Sometimes certain fuel injector cleaners can aggressively remove carbon deposits from sensors and cause a service light to illuminate but it is very rare. What is more likely is that the service light came on due to the...
