Q: My 04 STI has been broke down for a year and a half and I only got to drive it for three weeks. :(

asked by on February 01, 2017

I have an 04 Subaru Sti that doesn't run and has been sitting for about year and a half now. Within the first 3 weeks of getting it, I took it 140+ and blew the turbo and the block. I was told the tune on the car put excessive PSI to the turbo. It was pouring white smoke, would barely crank and I had to get it towed. I was told I'll need a new short block, a turbo, and a bunch of oil and that a engine rebuild wasn't possible. The invoice for the repair came up to just over 6000 dollars. I looking for advice and information that will help me bring that 6000 dollar figure down as much as possible. Any info helps! I'm making payments on it still so selling a car that doesn't run will prove difficult.

My car has 110000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.
