Q: Mechanic changed A/C condensor and added refrigerant. Still dont work. Now the problem is the compressor. Wrong initial diagnosis?

asked by on May 26, 2017

My car a/c started to get slowly warmer last year, and then eventually it was not cool at all anymore. Went to the mechanic last week. He said that the condensor was broken and that there was no more refrigerent, so he replaced them. Got back my car, tried to use the A/C the next day, and got only warm air. I brought back the car to the garage, and now he says the problem is a broken compressor (which was working fine before according to him). Could it have just happen by chance unfortunately? Or is more probably that he did a wrong initial diagnosis, or the repair caused the new problem?

My car has 150000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.
