Q: Looking for possible solutions for a serpentine belt chirp 3 weeks after getting it and the tensioner pulley replaced.

asked by on March 02, 2017

On 2-12-17, the idler/tensioner pulleys and the serpentine belt were replaced to solve a squeaking issue with the pulley. Now this week about 3 weeks later a new chirping type of squeak has started with the serpentine belt area. It isn't as consistent as the original squeak and sounds more bird-like I'd say. The noise tends to go away when at a stop and become louder when accelerating initially and then after about 20 minutes of driving the noise stops completely. When watching the belt, it looks to jump sideways a little over the new pulley. Could that be the cause of the noise? What would cause the uneven travel/misalignment?
