Q: Q: Key not turning in the ignition

asked by on

The key will not turn in the ignition. I think it might be the key lock tumbler.

The steering wheel may be torque locked, try turning the wheel from side to side while turning the key. Also, make sure the vehicle is in Park. You may have to have the ignition lock cylinder replaced. I recommend having a certified mechanic from YourMechanic properly replace the ignition cylinder. You will get to use the original key in most cases.
