Q: idle higher than normal, misfiring, bank 1 rich

asked by on

Car is idling to high, running rich on bank one, misfiring, running rough.

My car has 146000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hey Edward. Thanks for sending your question to us today. A high engine idle, followed by misfire is often an indication of a vacuum leak of some sort. It could also be due to failed O2 sensors or possible a damaged idle control valve. Since so many possible sources exist, an on-site inspection by a professional mechanic would be a good idea.
