I was in an accident where I hit the metal guardrails on the highway and I dented the the right side of both the front and back bumpers. My car (2010 Chevy Cobalt) still managed to start after, but went into "cooling mode" not long after and then the check engine light came on. Then two days later, it wouldn't start and the key was stuck in the ignition. I managed to get it jumpstarted, brought it to a mechanic who said that I needed to get the radiator, radiator support and transmission pan gasket replaced. He quoted me at $1688 including diagnostic. I called another mechanic for a second opinion, and he said that I needed to bring my car to a body shop (even though these parts are mechanical?). Should I bring it to another mechanic or body shop for repairs? Am I being overcharged here?
My car has 60000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
