Q: I think my positive wire is grounded somewhere

I installed a new starter and it ran and started good for a day but i was driving down the road and it reved high and low high and low and then the whole car shut off. I made sure my battery terminals are tightened and figured the battery died. So I tried to jump start it and the cable started smoking and melted. Car is unresponsive, no lights, no cranking, nothing
