Q: I'm having to jump my solenoid to be able to start my car, is it just that it's bad?

I'm having to jump my solenoid for my car to crank. If I don't it just turns over and over. But somehow my dad put a wire we're one of my relays go and it will crank and run fine. I'm just wondering if the solenoid is bad or my wiring is bad? I've heard it could be numerous things ...
