Q: I have a Honda Fit 2008 in terrible condition. I bought it a few months ago and USPS lost my title in the mail.

asked by on July 16, 2017

I bought the car at a used auto shop. The cars temporary tags expired and I got a ticket for expired tags. It's not worth fixing in a shop because it can easily exceed over 1,000 and it's only worth 4,000. The engine lights are always on even though I keep fixing the problem. The engine makes a high pitch squeaky sound when it is on. I took a loan out for it at USAA. I have a reassignment of title document in my name. USPS lost the original title in the mail and there is just no way of getting another title. I'm from Virginia and the title is from Indiana. How do I get rid of this car?

My car has 156000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello! An intermittent failure of a start response can be many things - a bad ignition switch (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/ignition-switch-replacement), starter solenoid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/starter-replacement), or in your case - the keys use a "raised-chip" design for security. With years of wear, the key/ignition...
