Q: I have a 98’ Honda Prelude 5 speed manual trans. I am having issues shifting into 3rd gear when speeding up.
When I speed up to get on the freeway, my car will shift fine from 1st to 2nd and when I try to put the car into 3rd it’s like the stick hits a wall. It won’t go into 3rd gear until the rpms go down to about 2 1/2 rpm. It won’t shift into 3rd gear if the rpms are at like 4 or even 4 1/2 rpm. When I drive in town, I only rev up to about 2 1/2 rpm when shifting and it works fine. Just when I go over 3,000 rpm it won’t shift into 3rd. Is this a common issue? Or do you think the clutch cable might be stretched for 3rd gear? Thank you for your time.
