What does the “Low tire pressure” warning mean on the message center?
Your car’s Tire Pressure Monitoring system (TPMS) is responsible for making sure that all four tires have the right amount of air in them. If one of the tires is low, it turns on the Low Tire Pressure light on...
Recently purchased a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado z71 5.3L engine and truck has a rough idle and hesitation on accelerating.
Hello. Most of the time this is caused by an issue with the variable valve timing. Since you do not know the history of the engine it may have some sludge built up inside which is going to affect the...
Car starts, but sputters and acts like it wants to stall
The first question I have for you is whether it has had its timing belt (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-does-a-timing-belt-work) replaced? The maintenance interval on your timing belt is 105,000 miles (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-long-does-a-timing-belt-last). A broken or failing timing belt (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-timing-belt) can certainly display these sort...
Runs fine when cold- after 1/2 hour or so , spits and sputters then quits
Hi and thanks for contacting YourMechanic. To me this symptom sounds like three different problems that could be happening. This will cause the exhaust...

Hello. If the engine is just shutting off then it may be an electrical issue with the ignition switch (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/ignition-switch-replacement) or the main relay (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/main-relay-computer-fuel-system-replacement). If the engine starts sputtering before it turns off and then it starts up again...
Transmission gets often times gets stuck in 2nd gear. Why?
This is often times a sign of low transmission fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-fluid-service) or a faulty transmission control solenoid. As you know, automatic transmissions use pressurized hydraulic fluid to change gears. Every time a gear change is required, the car's computer activates...
coughs when accelerating or going up hills while in gear.
Hi there. Typically when an engine "coughs" it is due to a cylinder misfire. This could be caused by one of several ignition system components or fuel system components that are not working efficiently due to simply being dirty or...
Rotor/propeller sound emits from rear passenger side
I would recommend taking your vehicle back to the place that performed the service and ask them to take a second look. If the vehicle did not have this issue prior to having it serviced, it is likely that something...
