I have a 1998 4.3 V6 in my 1982 Jeep CJ and completed CA SMOG certification in 2007. When I had the ECM programmed and passed smog in 2007, the tuner changed the VIN in the ECM to a program he had for this engine type, he is no longer in business. The engine did not come with secondary AIR equipment but it has the monitor for secondary AIR in the ECM and it is obviously not ready. How do you turn a monitor to N/A or Not Supported? The SMOG Referee said he thought the ECM needed to be programmed with the original VIN and that controlled which monitors were required for the engine. Is that all that needs to happen, change VIN or do I need a completely new reflash?
