How do you set up a MyKey®?

MyKeys® are keys that are specially programed with specific restrictions. Each MyKey® receives several standard restrictions that cannot be changed, but there are also many optional restrictions that can be added depending on how you want to set things up. Here’s how to program a MyKey® with the basic/standard restrictions in place.

  1. Make sure the key you want to program is in the ignition.

  2. Turn the ignition on.

  3. In the message center, press the Setup button.

  4. Cycle through your options until you see “Press reset to create MyKey”.

  5. Press the Reset button and let it go.

  6. You’ll see a message that reads “Hold reset to confirm MyKey”.

  7. Press the Reset button and hold it. Wait for two seconds. A new message will now read “Mark this as restricted”.

  8. Don’t do anything until another message appears saying “Key restricted at next start”.

Tip

If you want to clear the key you just created, you can do so immediately. If you wait, you’ll need to use an admin key to do it.
