How do I start the engine with a key?

The engine can be started with a key very easily:

  1. Engage the parking brake if it is not already engaged.

  2. Check to make sure that the shift lever is in P, if you have an automatic transmission. If you have a manual transmission, move the shift lever to N.

  3. In an automatic, depress and hold the brake pedal. In a manual, depress and hold the clutch pedal.

  4. Insert the key into the ignition.

  5. Rotate the key clockwise to the Start position. When the engine finishes turning on, release the key.
