Q: How do I prevent damage to my key?

How do I prevent damage to my key?

Whether you have an electronic key or an integrated mechanical key and remote, you need to take care of it. These are electronic devices and a number of different things can cause damage. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Don’t expose your key to high temps (don’t leave it sitting in direct sunlight, for instance).

  • Don’t expose your key to jolts (don’t drop it if at all possible).

  • Don’t expose your key to electric shocks.

  • Don’t get your key wet (wipe off any moisture immediately, but never submerge the key).

  • Don’t put your key near a strong magnetic field.

  • Don’t take the key apart.
