Q: How do i fix the timing on my car?

asked by on

My car did not pass smog because of my timing

My car has 174563 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

There are several ways to check and set the ignition timing. The most traditional method is to check timing with a timing light against the recommendations of Nissan for your 1990 240SX. However, there could be issues with timing due to a worn out distributor cap and rotor. If you don’t have the timing light or don’t feel comfortable doing this, one of our local mechanics could adjust ignition timing for you rather easily.
