Hi there! My name is Hunter Parleir. I purchased a 2002 BMW Z3 3.0i And I absolutely love this car. Sadly, it is misfiring. Random multiple misfire codes, as well as running lean codes. One code said the other week as well that there was a misfire on cylinder 5 with fuel cut off, too. Also I do not know if this pertains to the misfire, but there is a somewhat strong smell of fuel/oil in the cabin. I replaced the spark plugs and that helped it some, got it down from 13 codes to 8. I am going to buy new coil packs and replace those, as well as the DISA valve as I hear a noise that I think may be that. I love this car, but am a little bit scared to drive it in this condition. I want so badly to just crank it up, and drive it wherever I please care free, but can’t in good conscious right now. PLEASE, any help at all you can give me I would be more than extremely grateful. Thank you so much, and have a wonderful week!

My car has 147000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

Engine misfiring in a 2002 Pontiac Montana
A misfire could be caused by number of problems but since you are getting the p0204 and p0203 I believe that is is probably an injector that is causing the misfire. I would replace the injector (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/fuel-injector-replacement) for the number...
Car won't go in reverse and died.
Your transmission is electronically controlled, a very likely cause that would prevent the transmission from shifting into reverse and then prevent the vehicle from starting is the transmission range switch. My recommendation is to have a mechanic, such as one...
Car shut off and back on, ESP light on
Not sure if the ESP system is related to stalling issue but the stability control system is reliant on several sensors for proper operation. It could be the brake light switch (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/brake-light-switch-replacement), which is a common failure along with the...
my coolant becomes empty after two days of filling it up
You have a leak. The only question is where. YourMechanic will pressurize the cooling system when COLD which should reveal the leak without too much trouble. A common leak would be through the water pump bearing weep hole, especially if...
Engine idle fluctuates
This may be a sign of a vacuum leak. A vacuum leak can be one of the most frustrating and difficult problems to diagnose. High idle speed is a common sign and stalling is another. Confirmation of an engine vacuum...
Check engine light on brand new car
Hello. Thank you for writing in. A vehicle being that new should not have any kind of warning lights. If you think there is an operator error, look to your owners manual for more information about the vehicle. This is...
Yea, I'm wondering how to stop my stock factory alarm from going off. I don't know what I moved that started my alarm to go off in the 1st place.
Hi there. Remove the battery cables (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/service-battery-cables) and leave the cables off for about 13 minutes. This will clear the immobilizer and the ECM (computer) to a learning mode. Then hook up the battery cables. If the alarm is turned...
Hello, I just got my front lower ball joints and control arms replaced today, but I am now experiencing a tinking sound.
The most obvious possibility is damage to the CV joint during control arm replacement. In your application, the CV joint and boot will be impacted unless precautions are taken when the ball joint is separated from the steering knuckle. Indeed,...
How many O2 sensors are on a 2005 Cadillac CTS 3.6L V6 base sedan, I just purchased it used.
There are 4 oxygen sensors on your model, two upstream in the manifold area, and two after the catalytic converters (one per converter). Oxygen sensors are only replaced if the actual output wave form, and voltage range, is out of...
