Q: Hi can you use gasket maker on 05 impala oil pan 3.8 instead of paying 100 bucks for gasket

asked by on

Can you use gasket maker on my engine oil pan.

My car has 250 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there. If you use gasket maker instead of the gasket made for the motor, then you would not have a good seal and the oil pan would be too close to the oil pickup tube and restrict the oil flow in to the engine. You may be able to find a cheaper aftermarket gasket.
