Q: Help! About a week ago I noticed my 2006 Buick Rendevous was not braking when coasting into my driveway or into a parking spot

asked by on May 13, 2017

When coasting into a parking lot or out of one or coming my car won't brake. I recently got new brakes and rotors but there seems to be a grinding sound. It takes a minute to brake. Could this be my transmission? I notice it also hard shifts during colder weather.
My car's transmission is unknown to me.

Should I change my transmission fluid.
I would not recommend changing the fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-often-do-i-need-to-replace-the-transmission-fluid) or getting a flush on the transmission since you are already starting to have a problem. A service may make it worse at this point. I would have the transmission checked by...

How problem free is the Ford 3.2L Turbo Diesel compared to the Mercedes 3.0L Diesel used in small RV's?

Overheating at idle but blowing cool air. Also when I press the gas it cools it down. What could be the issue?
Hi There, Overheating with the AC on is generally caused by a couple of possibilities. When the AC compressor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/ac-compressor-replacement) is beginning to fail, this may incur an increased load on the motor as it works harder than usual to...
Why when I change my transmission oil the car did not want to move at all and after it drove a little and then smoke came out that
Hi John. Thanks for contacting us today. It’s quite possible that the root issue is something very simple, like a shift solenoid not correctly attached or installed. On an older transmission like your 96' Camry, it is also possible if...
