Q: Hello my belt is heating up

asked by on

Belt heated

My car has 120 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

Drive belts must be properly tensioned, to specific values that are published in the Factory Service Manual, in order to avoid unwanted friction and also in order to properly drive all of the engine accessories. For example, if the water pump is not driven by the belt at adequate RPM, the engine will overheat due to inadequate coolant flow. You can obtain an inspection, and replacement if necessary, of your vehicle’s drive and serpentine belts by requesting serpentine belt inspection/replacement. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.
