Q: My car is behaving strangely after replacing the battery

asked by on December 19, 2016

I have a 2001 audi tt just replaced the battery, the old battery used to die after 1 day if sitting. I thought it was a radio parasitic draw i took the radio fuse out and the old battery still wouldnt start the car. i put a new battery in it started fine at first try. before i replaced battery i filled my car up with 87 octane gas on accident instead of 91 and after 5 min it became very loud like a diesel truck. I went to start my car with new battery and it takes 2-3 tries to start. I checked if it was alternator at fault by removing the negative battery terminal when car was running and it didnt stall and ran fine so i think the alternator and battery are solid. I put some octane boost in my car to fix the loud issue but it didnt go away. When i start my car it smells like raw gas like a cold start every time and it takes 2-3 tries to start. Im suspecting fuel filter.

My car has 220000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.
