have a 2003 toyota limited highlander with 194,000 on it that has a high pitched whiny noise on start-up. Kind of like it is wound up too tight. I think it may be the transimission, but not sure. You can hear the noise when driving. i feel like the neighbors know when I drive away, it is that loud. Sometimes after it is warmed up I think it goes away, but not always.
