Q: hard starting when engine is cooling down

asked by on February 19, 2018

Engine starts fine when cold or hot. But if you wait about 15 minutes to 30 minutes after the engine is shut off it is hard to start. It fires a couple times (like normal start) but instead of jumping to high or low idle (like normal) it dies. Sometimes (during this cool down period) when I try to start the car it will start but runs real rough struggling to keep runing for 10 -15 seconds and then idle fine. Once started it will restart fine. It acts a lot like a problem I had with a 69 Camaro where the choke was not cooling down at the same rate as the engine. But this is all electronnic so MY guess is a bad sensor. But which one? Pumping the accelerator or holding it partially down when trying to start the car does not help.

My car has 109000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

wippers stopped working checked fuse seams ok
The recommended diagnostic is a non-working wiper inspection (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/wipers-are-not-working-inspection). The mechanic would determine if power is reaching the wiper motor when the steering column mounted switch is in the "on" position. If there is power to the motor, and yet...
