Q: Gear shift not moving

asked by on

My car starts, but when I try to put the car into drive, the gear shift does not move. I have to play with it for a while in order to get it to move into reverse or drive.

The most common problem with this vehicle not coming out of park is the brake light switch. The computer doesn’t see that your foot is on the brake and will not allow the park lock to disengage. I would recommend having a certified tech come out and test the brake switch and replace it as needed.
