Q: Gauges

asked by on December 07, 2016

Recently I installed a new fuel tank, well painted and perhaps insulated. The fuel gauge has not worked properly since. It never drops below half a tank, although empty, but shows a full one when full. Now the tachometer has halted at some 2000 rpm and does not drop although the ignition has been turned off. The battery gauge is shaky, especially when the engine is started. The engine does not run smoothly. I detect some disturbances during idle speed and it may as well die if not accelerated. When I surf the internet for these symptoms bad or no ground turns up. I wonder if it could have something to do with the alternator. What would you think? Kind regards

My car has an automatic transmission.
