Q: gascap replaced but engine light still on. Dealer says charchol canister but only fails test 1/10 times.could it be faulty gascap?

gas cap replaced by dealer but engine light came on again days later. Dealer says maybe charchol canister but the cc only fails test 1/10 times per Firestone. could it be faulty gas cap? Is cc worth replacing?
My car has an automatic transmission.
