Q: Fully charged battery that tested perfectly fine dies overnight when the car is off.

asked by on October 10, 2017

I left my lights on a few weeks ago over night and came out to find that my battery was obviously dead. Then, about a week or 2 later, when I stopped to get coffee on the way to work and I put my flashers on and ran in for about 5-10 mins. When I came back out, my car wouldn't start because the battery wasn't charged up enough. I got a jump and it started running fine again. That afternoon, my car started on the first crank-it wasn't as smooth as normal, but ran fine on the drive home. I figured that it was still a little weak from it dying earlier that morning. The next morning, it was dead and would click rapidly when I would try to turn it over while jumping it off. It took too long to jump so I just had to leave it. 2 days later I took the battery to Autozone to have it charged and tested and it came back perfectly fine. I put it back in my car and it started right up no problem. The next morning, I came back out and the battery was dead. What's going on and how much will it cost?

My car has 89000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
