Q: Fuel pump not engaging after replacing for the second time!!

asked by on August 28, 2017

Okay!! So two weeks ago my fuel pump went out on my van. I bought a new one from advanced and put it in and bam! Worked again with no issues other than the digital display saying "gas cap". I found I had the line unhooked and fixed it. Three days ago, the pump went out again!! I thought it was just a trash part so I bought another one 175 dollars a pop. I just got it installed and it's not working at all. I checked the relays and they are all fine. I checked the wire running to the tank and it was fine so I dropped the stupid tank again!! Checked the plug on top and it was fine took the pump out and it looked like a new pump should. Put the tank back up again strapped it and climbed out to try and nothing again. I checked the wire harness (as much of it as I could) and nothing was showing any exposed wire. I beat on the tank to get it going and nothing!! The van will still crank but it won't start and I am at a complete stand still with it.

My car has 162567 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Heater not working reliably, is it caused by a bad thermostat?
From what you've described, it sounds like you have a stuck open thermostat. I'd recommend replacing the thermostat (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/thermostat-replacement) to see if this is the cause of the slow heat up of the vehicle since it's a relatively quick repair....

Engine temp goes down when I stop or turn the heat on. 2013 Dodge Avenger
Hi there - the symptoms you describe indicate a thermostat (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-thermostat) that is not properly keeping engine temperature at the correct operating level. The thermostat should restrict flow as necessary (stopping or running the heater) to keep the engine at...
