Q: Fuel pump might need replacing.

Only a fuel pressure test would tell if the fuel pump is bad or you have a bad fuel pump module causing the issue. The most common problem is the fuel pump draws too much power and causes the module to overheat and turn off power. Sometimes the module is replaced and may work for a short time before failing again. My recommendation is to replace the fuel pump and module as a set if either one is diagnosed as the failed part.
