Q: fuel pump?

asked by on

Engine wouldn't fire. Rapped on gas tank shield and car started. Does this prove that the problem is the fuel pump?

My car has 120000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

If you knocked on the fuel tank and then it started is a good indication the fuel pump and connector should be replaced. Fuel pressure test is the best way to verify the pump is bad.
