Q: Frothy tranny fluid hard shift into reverse

asked by on March 01, 2018

Bought the truck yesterday. Drove 30 miles home. Reversed into driveway smoothly. Test drive and again today was delayed and slamming into reverse. Hard and delayed shift into reverse was said to been happening for 14 years. Also, tranny fluid brownish and frothy. Checked warm on level ground. Dip stick has no full/fill markings but 2ish inches show on dip stick. Truck came with 'medical records'. In 06 truck was looked at for shifting issues. Mechanic notes said nothing wrong found. Tranny flush was done. Research says fluid too full causes frothy but too low causes shift issues, but if its too full why the shifting issues or too low why the all froth? What else can cause frothy tranny fluid? Should I have the tranny flushed, replaced, rebuilt? Cooling system issues?(saw that doing internet research) Please help
