Q: front axle boots are both ripped

Firestone did an oil change and said due to having to different front tires, not different size but different tread, the front axle was damaged! I can see that both sides have the boot ripped. the funny thing is, they are the ones that put the different tire on the vehicle. when we had a flat. on a matching tire but they said they could not fix the value stem. The car is front wheel drive. IF that matters, but when we said they actually put the different tire on, they said if we had a rect they would fix the vehicle for free, So we took the rect to them and now they are going back on their word. I feel what has happened is they didn't think we would have a rect. and they were actually trying to scam us all along, So now we are having a 3rd party inspector provided by firestone look over the vehicle so we really need your help!
