Q: Exhaust resonator

asked by on

I'm replacing my exhaust resonator to my muffler when I bolt on the new resonator to the converter can I use regular bolts ?

My car has 185000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

It is certainly ok to use regular bolts when replacing exhaust parts. The most important thing to remember is to always use new hardware if possible when replacing exhaust system components. Due to the heating and cooling of the exhaust system, the threads on exhaust mounting hardware are typically weak.
