Q: ESC light

when the ESC light randomly comes on (without hitting the button), it seems to disengage the gas pedal. so I have to pull over shut it down and restart the van. This seems to reset it, but it's going to happen again at some point. how can I fix this issue?

My car has 131000 miles.
