Q: Engine is misfiring on cylinder 8, when car is up to temperature it shakes when accelerating. The shaking stops when I stop accele

asked by on March 13, 2018

My car all of the sudden began sorta shaking. And then my check engine light came on. The code says I have a misfire on cylinder 8. The car shakes when it gets up to temperature sometimes when accelerating. If you let off the gas the shaking stops. I feel the shaking most on the driver's side. Apparently this car is designed in a way that allows rainwater to gather and drain in from the hood onto that ignition coil, as we read in a few forums. We took the coil out and it was indeed wet. We read to use an air compressor to shoot any residue water out of the hole the coil fits in so we did that. Didn't fix the problem, which can happen so now I have a new ignition coil coming in the mail. If that doesn't work I plan on trying that sparkplug next. It's just a paint to get to so I decided to try the coil first.

Anyone have any recommendations beyond that, does that seem like a probable fix? Where should I go next?

Thank you for your input, -Adrianne
