Q: drove through puddle, CEL on, able to start and drive, drove 20 miles to dealer, felt some shakin while gear shift, bad engine?

asked by on August 31, 2017

I drove my vehicle through flood water and it took minute to cross it but While crossing the water, charging system and CEL came on. But vehicle didn't stall. Also charging system light turned off after some time. I was able to drive it and reached home n parked . Accelerated for a while and white smoke came from exhaust for some time then it was fine. But CEL was on. After that started engine couple of times n it was starting fine however while changing gear i felt some shaking at steering wheel, not something i usually feel. Took it to dealer next day after driving 20 miles n felt shakin while gear shift. For a minute CEL was blinking then stayed on, tech guy showed me that air filter is completely wet. He is saying tht engine is misfiring and there may be a bent road. I am not sure if thts the case since i was able to drive it fine n nly felt some shake when gear shifts. So not sure whether to let them proceed further or i take it to someone else? Or is it safe to drive further
