When it doesn't start you have to get under vehicle and mess with the wires that go from battery to starter. Has new starter, water pump and battery. Starting to cut out going down the road a little. Radio only works once in awhile but dont know if that is related. Whats the first thing to try?

Hello, thank you for writing in. We all love our Jeeps, but most owners eventually learn about the wiring and electrical issues that come with the territory. It sounds like not only the starting system, but the charging system is also having issues. You will need to start by tracing the wiring on both systems and making sure all connections are clean, dry, and tight. With that said, the grounds are important connections that will cause all sorts of strange problems. Make sure the battery’s ground in particular is corrosion free and tight. If all of the wiring checks out, then you will want to have your alternator tested. If it is in the process of going out it may be leaving the battery with a low charge when you turn it off. Resulting in a battery that is too low to crank over the engine. Only further testing will tell. For more diagnostic help, contact our service department.
